Benjamin Billot

Researcher at Inria.

I’m a full-time researcher in the Epione team at Inria Sophia-Antipolis. My research focuses on improving data representation to increase the robustness of systems for the analysis of clinical imaging data.

Research interests: My research focuses on different steps of the development cycle of AI algorithms including: generation of diverse training datasets, dealing with different kinds of supervision, learning interpretable data representations, building robust architectures that explicitly model data symmetries. These techniques are then applied to a variety of tasks for medical image analysis, such as image segmentation, registration, etc.

Biography: After completing a MSc in neuro-technology at Imperial College London in 2016, I joined the incubator of start-ups Founders Factory as a member of the AI team. I then returned to the academic world by pursuing a PhD at University College London with Dr. Juan Eugenio Iglesias, during which I proposed the domain randomisation strategy for domain-agnostic processing of brain MRI (like segmentation with SynthSeg). I then join the lab of Prof. Polina Golland at MIT to work on symetry representation with equivariant networks. I am now a full-time researcher at Inria Sophia-Antipolis in the Epione team led by Prof. Nicholas Ayache.
